amazingness in the wake of such a tragedy.

i am sure you have heard by now. this story has spread like a wildfire.
nine year old rachel beckwith, a member of my church and a girl from zoe's kids church room; lost her life after a good fight following a pile up on a local interstate involving a semi and log truck. you can read more about the story here.
this last year when her birthday neared, racheal opened a charity:water birthday campaign and asked for donations instead of gifts. you have heard me talk about charity:water on here before. it is an amazing charity that provides clean drinking water to those who would otherwise be drinking from muddy disease filled puddles. this charity is near and dear to our church an a lot of members in fact do this similar act for their birthdays. this is what it says on her page:

"On June 12th 2011, I'm turning 9. I found out that millions of people don't live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn't have access to clean, safe water so I'm celebrating my birthday like never before. I'm asking from everyone I know to donate to my campaign instead of gifts for my birthday. Every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater projects in developing nations. Even better, every dollar is "proved" when the projects are complete, and photos and GPS coordinates are posted using Google Earth. My goal is to raise $300 by my birthday, June 12, 2011. Please consider helping me.

Thank you so much!!!"
she had set a goal for only $300 which i believe was not met all of the way, until now.
in the wake of this tragic event donations just started rolling in on her campaign page in her behalf and when she finally lost the fight this last week and her story spread the numbers soared and insane rates. i could sit and hit refresh all day and it was rising by thousands each second.
yesterday morning when i looked it was at $170,000-right now it is at $412,604 no $413, 000 no wait, $413, 108...$414,388. i am absolutely humbled at the way this little girl as touched and inspired people in her one tragic loss of life she is saving over 20,000 people from water disease related deaths.
so, here is where i call you to donate; read her story and get inspired to help out or even start your own chairty: water campaign.

here is rachel's charity:water page and our church is also asking for help to cover the family hospital expenses to save them from having to face even one more hardship, if your are intrested in that you can go here.

please spread the word, tweet, blog about it, however you get news around. thanks for listening!

Wow horrible. But it's amazing how she is still saving thousands of people.

So heart-wrenching and heart-warming all at the same time. It's comforting to know that while a young life was lost, her legacy will love on with many!
