Robin's cake smash had been in the works for months and I had reserved one of my favorite up and coming photographers, Ashly Vos, for the gig. We picked a early October date and while I didn't love the idea of having it so early, the PNW was offering up the most amazing indian summer and we didn't want to temp mother nature by waiting too long.
The whole thing unfolded perfectly - Ashley and I saw eye to eye on all the details and the result was smashing (pun totally intended). I stayed up late the night before carefully tying a hundred pieces of streamers to twine and using inspiration from this cake smash shoot, ordered the cake from a friend of a friend who has made all of my cakes for awhile now.
It took a little while to get Robin comfortable sitting on the gravel and even longer to force him to love the cake. There were some faces and laughing and then slowly, some smashing. No hands, face first? I seriously die every time I look at that photo - It is already ordered huge for the wall.
Ashley did a perfect job capturing this memory for us! If your local to the Seattle/Tacoma/Everett area I highly recommend her for your photography needs - She specializes in just about everything from birth, to babies, to families, even weddings.
Lastly, one of my most favorite parts of the whole shoot was Robin's crown from Little Blue Olive. I was already in love just scrolling through Brandy's Etsy shop but when the crown showed up in the mail I was blown away. It is crafted so well and is guaranteed to survive years of toddler abuse. The details are gorgeous and well thought of too. Her shop offers tons of fun crowns for all ages, even you dirty thirtys out there! I can't wait to order a crown for more up coming birthdays!
Little Blue Olive has generously offered to give one of my readers a $20 credit to their shop in honor of Robin's birthday!
